WHICH DEVICE SHOULD I USE FOR TOYOTA TPMS SYSTEMS?

What happens when a TPMS sensor Is faulty or damaged?

REPLACING A TPMS SENSOR ON A TOYOTA VEHICLE

When a Toyota vehicle TPMS sensor is broken, or does not respond anymore, it is time to replace it. Go to the Part Number Lookup menu in the ATEQ TPMS Tool menu, to find the right original spare part replacement number for Toyota. Another alternative is to programme a universal sensor. DO I NEED TO RESET THE ECU AFTER HAVING CHANGED A TOYOTA TPMS SENSOR?

When replacing a sensor with another TPMS OE sensor, it is necessary to perform a relearn. With the VT56 tool and a programmable sensor several options are available. Clone the ID from the “old” sensor, by using the COPY ID, MANUAL ID or RETRIEVE ID functions in the tool, and then transfer the old ID to a programmable sensor. Once you have Cloned the ID, you do not need to reset the ECU, as the ID number has not changed.

How do I reset the TOYOTA TPMS ECU?

HOW DO I RESET THE ECU ON A TOYOTA VEHICLE?

After any TPMS maintenance, such as wheel rotation Or Exchange of a faulty Sensor, the ECU needs to be reset. Without exception, the ECU relearn method for all Toyota Vehicles is via the OBD. Using an OBD enabled tool such as the ATEQ VT46, ATEQ VT55 or ATEQ VT56 you’ll be able to reset the ECU in less than 2 minutes.

WHEN DO I NEED TO “UNLOCK THE ECU” BEFORE OBD RELEARN?

If you’re having issues such as a transfer failure, when performing an OBD relearn on a Toyota, Scion or Lexus, the reset or set button located in the vehicle could have been pushed, which locks your ECU. Connect the OBD Module of the ATEQ VT56 to the vehicle, and press the “unlock ECU” Button. You will now be able to perform a relearn again. To learn more, see our video on Youtube.
