WHICH DEVICE SHOULD I USE FOR CITROEN TPMS SYSTEMS?

All ATEQ tools are compatible with Citroen original sensors. Many devices also program universal aftermarket sensors to be fitted in Citroen vehicles. Choose the ATEQ VT36 tool or the Q-1244-BX TPMS tool to read all Citroen sensors. To reset or to relearn the Citroen TPMS ECU, an OBDII capable tool such as the ATEQ VT56 is recommended.

ATEQ VT56 TPMS TOOL for CITROEN
The ATEQ VT56 is the all-in-one comprehensive TPMS tool with coverage for all Citroen vehicles on the European, Asian and African markets. It also covers all PSA brands (Citroen, Citroen, DS, Vauxhall and Opel), as well as all other TPMS equipped vehicles on the market. With its OBDII module and advanced features, the tool acts as a full diagnostic tool for all TPMS maintenance. Use the ATEQ VT56 to reset any Citroen vehicle’s ECU in less than 2 minutes. Find out more about the ATEQ VT56 here.
Q-1244-BX TPMS TOOL for CITROEN

The Q-1244-BX TPMS TOOL for Citroen vehicles is accessible for all Citroen dealers from PSAs own purchase platform. It includes all PSA brands (Citroen, Citroen, DS, Vauxhall and Opel). To reset the ECU on most Citroen vehicles, the Q-1244-BX is used in conjunction with the Citroen Diagnostic tool. If you are not a Citroen dealer, look for the ATEQ VT36, which is the multibrand version of the same tool. User Manuals for the Q-1244-BX Tool for CITROEN can be found here.

What happens when a TPMS sensor Is faulty or damaged?

REPLACING A TPMS SENSOR ON A CITROEN VEHICLE

When a Citroen TPMS sensor is broken, or does not respond anymore, it is time to replace it. Go to the Part Number Lookup menu in the ATEQ TPMS tool menu, to find the right Original Equipement spare part replacement number for Citroen. Another alternative is to programme a universal sensor. A TPMS programming tool such as the VT36, VT46 and the VT56 allows to programme over 10 brands of universal sensors. See this video about programming a senso

ARE CITROEN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DIRECT OR INDIRECT TPMS SYSTEMS?

Citroen vehicles use two types of TPMS systems: direct TPMS and indirect TPMS. Direct TPMS systems, used in for example the Citroen C4 Aircross, C-ZERO, Jumper etc. use TPMS sensors inside the wheel to report pressure data to the vehicle’s ECU in real time. Direct systems are more accurate and reliable to indicate which tire is underinflated. An indirect TPMS system uses an ABS system to monitor the speed of the wheel and communicate to the ECU. Citroen vehicles – such as the Ami, the C1, the Jumpy or the Space Tourer – use indirect systems. Indirect systems are less reliable since they cannot tell the driver which tire is low on pressure, and won’t warn the driver if all four tires are losing pressure at the same time. When using a tool such as the VT56 from ATEQ, the tool clearly describes all TPMS relearn methods – even the indirect!

How do I reset the CITROEN TPMS ECU?

HOW TO PERFORM AN INDIRECT TPMS RELEARN PROCEDURE ON A CITROEN?

Citroen uses indirect TPMS on many of their cars. This basic system, uses wheel rotation monitoring and often ABS wheel speed sensor information to establish if there is a pressure issue or a puncture. It is necessary to reinitialise the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted, and after changing one or more wheels. The process varies from one Citroen vehicle to the other. To quickly find the reinitialisation processes for all Citroen vehicles, even the INDIRECT, professionals can use an ATEQ VT56 TPMS tool. It contains step-by-step instructions, for all Citroen and other PSA vehicles.

WHICH TPMS RESET PROCEDURE FOR CITROEN?

Most Citroen vehicles make use of either Indirect TPMS or a TPMS system which requires a Autorelearn procedure. To go faster, and avoid driving the vehicle for up to 10 minutes, professionals can use a tool with OBDII capability such as the ATEQ VT56. OBD relearn saves time and confusion for the technician since there are less steps to perform. All Citroen vehicles with Direct TPMS, can be relearned via OBDII, using the ATEQ VT56. At 90%, ATEQ has the largest percentage of OBD relearn protocols in their TPMS tools than any other TPMS tool company.
