The editorial staff at Aftermarket News selected Marco Matuszak, Aftermarket TPMS Executive, in a 5-minute chat about his career at ATEQ. The interview was conducted by Christelle Hyenne, Marketing & Communication Manager Europe.
What was your first job in the industry?
I started my career in the Electronic Industry in August 1996 as an accountant and raised up very quickly to become part of the board as a financial and production controller in Germany. After having work for three global players I decided to move to France for private reasons. ATEQ France hired me in 2018 in order to use my personal skills for the new customer service. My position responsibilities focused on increasing the customer support and the presence and awareness of its tools and equipment. Now my position shifted to focus on the aftermarket sales in Europe and Middle East.
What do you like best about your current position?
The environment at ATEQ allows me to do what I am passionate about: Being in contact with the customers, cooperating with them to increase the market chances by using my studied knowledge of global markets and finance. ATEQ help me to find the way into this fantastic position in which I can combine my experience and my personal skills in interacting with customers and prospective customers.
Did you initially intend to pursue a career in the aftermarket? If not, what drew you to the industry and what keeps you here?
Before working for ATEQ I started the first years in France by working for NISSAN and then for INFINITI. These two years increased my sensitivity for customer needs and how to handle them. My new position in the ATEQ TPMS division is a combination out of listening to what the customers need in order to let them work as comfortable and productive as possible and the dialogue with our engineers to make it happen. This position allows me to be active and to connect the tasks with the developing team.
What do you do when not at work?
I love to pleasure guests by cooking for them. It is a combination of creativity and the possibility to have a constructive exchange with different characters. Further on I like to take the motorbike and to cruse at the county side, cleaning up my head for new tasks.
What one word best sums up your personality?
I would say, “trouble-shooter.” I am quick in reactions, even in stressful environment I stay polite and calm in order to find solutions as fast as possible.
“Never do less than your best”, nobody can expect more.
