WHICH DEVICE SHOULD I USE FOR PEUGEOT TPMS SYSTEMS?
All ATEQ tools are compatible with Peugeot original sensors. Many devices also program universal aftermarket sensors to be fitted in Peugeot vehicles. To reset or to relearn the Peugeot TPMS ECU, an OBD capable tool is many times indispensable.

The Q-1244-BX TPMS TOOL for PEUGEOT vehicles is accessible for all PEUGEOT dealers from PSAs own purchase platform. It includes all PSA brands (Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Vauxhall and Opel). To reset the ECU on most Peugeot vehicles, the Q-1244-BX is used in conjunction with the Peugeot Diagnostic tool. When a Peugeot TPMS sensor is broken, or does not respond anymore, it is time to replace it. Go to the Part Number Lookup menu in the ATEQ TPMS tool menu, to find the right Original Equipement spare part replacement number for Peugeot. Another alternative is to programme a universal sensor. Peugeot vehicles use two types of TPMS systems: direct TPMS and indirect TPMS. Direct TPMS systems, used in for example the Peugeot 1007, 3008, 4008, 508 etc. use TPMS sensors inside the wheel to report pressure data to the vehicle’s ECU in real time. Direct systems are more accurate and reliable to indicate which tire is underinflated. An indirect TPMS system uses an ABS system to monitor the speed of the wheel and communicate to the ECU. Peugeot vehicles such as the 107, 108, 2008, 208 use indirect systems. Indirect systems are less reliable since they cannot tell the driver which tire is low on pressure, and won’t warn the driver if all four tires are losing pressure at the same time. When using a tool such as the VT56 from ATEQ, the tool clearly describes all TPMS relearn methods – even the indirect!
Peugeot uses indirect TPMS on many of their cars. This basic system, uses wheel rotation monitoring and often ABS wheel speed sensor information to establish if there is a pressure issue or a puncture. It is necessary to reinitialise the system every time one or more tyre pressures are adjusted, and after changing one or more wheels. The process varies from one Peugeot vehicle to the other. Most Peugeot vehicles make use of either Indirect TPMS or a TPMS system which requires a diagnostic tool. Only the Peugeot Boxer/Boxer Combi uses a TPMS system, where the relearn is made through a Auto Relearn Procedure. Reason why it is different? Because it is built based on the same vehicle platform as the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper.
Auto Relearn is a very simple relearn process. However, for a workshop technician, its big disadvantage lies in that fact that he will have to drive the vehicle, sometimes for up to 10-15 minutes, to turn the TPMS warning light off.
